Krista's Personal Collection
The idea arose in the spring of 2004, after Krista lost her wallet out of her back pocket for the last time! This was a problem that had happened on more than one occasion. She needed a purse, but was not particularly fond of them. Her goal was to somehow make a purse that she actually liked.
Glancing at her boots, she began to think about how amazing the tops of boots were, and also how they are usually hiding under pant legs. The more she looked, it was soon clear that a boot shaft would be the perfect vessel for her project.  Off to the antique store, Krista went in search of the perfect pair of boots, settling on a great pair of vintage Tony Lamas.
Wanting just a small bag, it made the most sense to use just one of the boot shafts.  This conveniently allowed Krista to replace her lost wallet at the same time with the other boot. It took a lot of planning, trial, error, muscle, and needle pricks to the finger tips to devise a practical design that used as much of the boot as possible. Having done some leather work before, she used the basic tools she had on hand.
Not knowing what people would think of her boot bag, there was originally no intention of making more. After many positive responses, Krista began to consider the possibility of making the bags to sell.  Her design was fairly simple, and would easily adapt from one boot to the next.  She wanted to make sure that each bag was one of a kind, because there was nothing she hated more than to have the same thing as someone else.
The decision to produce the bags to sell was made at the Miles City Buckin' Horse Sale in May of 2004.  There was a gentleman selling used cowboy boots, and Krista had her eye on several pairs that would make great Boot Bags! After talking a great while the man, she learned that he was looking to retire, and was interested in liquidating his entire remaining inventory of used boots.  He was very intrigued with what she was planning to do, and excitedly made her an irresistible offer to sell. This event was the beginning of Krista's boot collection, and inventory. It wasn't until mid 2005 when Krista devised a practical design for making the Double Wide Boot Bags.
Krista's Personal Collection includes the very first Single Boot Bag, Boot Top Wallet, and Double Wide Boot Bag she ever made.  They have seen a lot of use over the years, and while holding strong, are wearing in very nicely.
